The anticipation for Assassin’s Creed Jade has taken an unexpected turn as reports surface of its delay into 2025. Initially unveiled during the Ubisoft Forward showcase in 2022, this China-based mobile spin-off has been quietly brewing in development for over four years. Following promising closed beta tests in 2023, enthusiasts eagerly anticipated its debut in 2024.
However, with news of its setback, the gaming community is left pondering the reasons behind this shift in release schedule. Let’s delve into the details and explore the implications of this delay.
Tencent’s Assassin’s Creed Jade Delayed
Tencent, the company that made the popular mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade, is said to have changed its plans and will not release the game until 2025 instead of this year.
Reuters said that Tencent, the biggest video game company in the world, has moved hundreds of employees from the team working on Assassin’s Creed Jade to work on DreamStar, a party game that just came out.
It is also said that Assassin’s Creed Jade is a mobile game that is based on the original game and takes place in ancient China. It has been in play for at least four years.

Tencent is making a change because they don’t want to spend as much money on creating Western brands for mobile. This is why the delay happened. Tencent would rather use its own intellectual property to make games like NetEase’s hugely popular party game Eggy Party and miHoYo’s incredibly popular Genshin Impact, which would allow it to keep most of the money it makes.
Assassin’s Creed Jade is the first full game in the series that was made just for phones. It’s being worked on by Level Infinite, a company owned by Tencent, and Ubisoft. On the other hand, the next major Assassin’s Creed game, Codename Red, will come out by the end of March 2025.
