Is Tiger Woods Suffering From Illness?
The 15-time Major winner pulled out of The Genesis Invitational in the middle of the tournament because he felt like he had the flu. Woods was seen being driven off the course in a golf cart, and his frustration could be seen on his face.
Woods went on X (formerly Twitter) to explain why he was pulling out of the event. He said: “I would like to confirm that I had to withdraw from Genesis Invitational due to illness, which we now know is influenza. I am resting and feeling better. Good luck to the players this weekend. I’m disappointed to not be there and want to thank Genesis USA and all the fans for the support.”

Reporters were told by his business partner Robert McNamara that Tiger Woods has been showing signs of being sick since Thursday. Through CNN, he said: “He had a little bit of a fever and that, and was better during the warm-up, but then when he got out there and was walking and playing, he started feeling dizzy.”
Woods left the tournament in a regular tournament car and went to the hospital to get better.
Is Tiger Woods Getting Any Treatment?
After the competition, an IV bag was used to treat the 48-year-old. According to CNN, McNamara went on to describe more about Woods’ illness: “Ultimately the doctors are saying he’s got some type of flu and that he was dehydrated. He’s been treated with an IV bag and he’s doing much, much better, and he’ll be released on his own here soon.”
Woods’ 2024 season is not off to a good start. He will, however, try to come back to play in the Masters in April.
So far, the 2024 Genesis Invitational has been very intense. Not only did Tiger Woods drop out of the event, but Jordan Spieth was also kicked out for writing the wrong score on the scorecard.
At the time of writing, Patrick Cantlay was five strokes ahead of the rest of the field and was in first place. Mackenzie Hughes, Luke List, and Jason Day were tied for second place.
