We never really expected to see the next-generation Android super-flagship in the flesh so early in the year, even though the OnePlus 12 has been in the news quite a bit over the last couple of months, going through the usual rumor mill motions preceding the formal announcement of a highly anticipated new phone.
OnePlus 11 was, after all, released at the start of 2023, and although some leakers said that the firm wouldn’t wait a full year to release a sequel, it is still most likely not happening until December.
But we probably shouldn’t act too shocked that we can already feast our eyes on the actual, real-life, and very much official OnePlus 12 display—this is a brand that frequently prefers to create its own hype around upcoming products rather than leaving everything in the hands of leakers or trying (and failing) to stop them from spilling all the secrets online.
Behold the “Industry-leading” 2k “Oriental Screen” of the Oneplus 12
How Come Oriental Screen? To be completely honest, we don’t know. However, that is the way China-based manufacturer BOE is showcasing the incredibly beautiful 2K panel on a presumed working pre-release OnePlus 12 prototype in photos, which mostly hides its backplate and sides.
These claims—that this unquestionably state-of-the-art display is “industry-leading,” “record-breaking,” “probably the brightest 2K screen in the world,” “probably the 2K screen with the strongest eye protection ability in the world,” and “probably the world’s longest-lasting OLED 2K screen”—build our excitement to dizzying heights, even though it is currently impossible to independently verify or corroborate any of those claims.
Additionally, OnePlus claims that this “Mount Everest-climbing” BOE-made screen will break 18 records in total, including 6 “major technological breakthroughs,” 9 “major global firsts,” and 12 “global premieres” (though it’s unclear how the latter two differ).
However, since there are no details available regarding these innovations or records, it might be best to hold off on having high expectations for the company’s upcoming flagship phone. For more details see the Tweet below:

After all, even with its claimed brightness of 2,600 nits, this will probably still be far less expensive than Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, for example. That is twice as bright as the already excellent OnePlus 11 panel at its highest point, however, it isn’t quite as brilliant as the OnePlus Open, which achieved an astounding 2,800 nits for both its primary and secondary displays.

The OnePlus 12 will ship with Qualcomm’s most recent cutting-edge chipset, which will surprise not a single (mobile tech enthusiast).

A massive 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities, up to 24 gigabytes of RAM (!!! ), and an insane rear-facing camera system consisting of not one, but two 50MP shooters and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens are all expected to be included.
These are all based on a number of reliable rumors and reports. It’s still unclear why a fourth sensor appeared on the back of the OnePlus 12 in updated product images last month.
